Ashby’s drawing of the baby in the box is one of my early favorites, plus I’m really wowed by all the time he must have put in to draw each individual piece of styrofoam and all those bubbles on the bubble wrap. Truly amazing. I also got a good chuckle out of Ashby’s placement of the cannon in panel three. You know what they say about the size of a man’s cannon.
Also note the southern California look of the house in panel two. On the next page the other houses in the neighborhood look much more Minnesotaish. Both Ashby and I spent time on the west coast before moving to Minnesota so the influence was bound to show up somewhere.
