Ashby here! Today marks the fiftieth page of When Claws Were Cool!  We’re celebrating our  50th comic page with a brand spanking new website, complete with bells, whistles, and bugs (as I’ll find out over the course of the next few days).  It’s still a little bit of a work in process, but most of the tubes have been connected.  And I got to say, I’m pretty proud of the new site.

Let’s not forget the old site.  It was cool for what it was but in the end it just took way to long to load, and we started loosing new site visiters.  A big thanks to all the readers out there who continued to read the comic! This new site is for you…

As always, let us know what you think! The site is still being tested for IE, so don’t get too angry at me for that (why are you using IE anyways? ).  Oh yeah, the site is also responsive, so if you see a facebook post or tweet while your at the ballgame or the opera or wherever, you should be able to check out a fairly easy to read version in landscape mode.  Also, for all you desktop users. you can now adjust the comic page size by simply resizing your browser window, to a point (or should I say pixel? ).

We will be adding a lot more content to the website over the next couple of months, and the site has a few new features:

• The fifty pages of comics have been organized, indexed and categorized and they each have their own page and comment section.  The home page will display the most recent page, and you can also access any page you want in the yellow index at the top right.  You can also view the comic by story, and while this featured is still in development, it might help readers to understand the nature of this comic, which exists mostly as two to four page stories at first.
• We have a new Joke of the Day feature, which will be cool if it doesn’t kill us.  More detail about this later, as it will most likely require it’s own post.
• You can now link directly to topwebcomics.com to vote for our comic, which is huge because the higher we are on that list the more hits we get.
• There is a new blog section where we can post about cool stuff, like our upcoming kickstarter project, or maybe we will just post rants about IE and superhero comics.
• We have a new shop which now only has one lonely item on it. But be prepared for our first print material to land on that page sometime in the near future.
• Check out the About page, which will be updated with new sections pretty soon, but for now you can check out the amazing caricatures of us done by  crazy talented Kirsten Bonafield.  
• Lastly we finally have a contact page, where you can send us messages or fan art.

Special thanks! To my family for their excitement and patience during this whole process. The design and dev team at my day job,Westwerk Design, for all the inspiration and knowledge. Lucas Rasmussen, my super intern who buckled down, resized and uploaded all of the pages to the new site. Our most recent artist addition, Emily Hoffman, who we will all see more of. Her work is a breath of fresh air amongst all my dead line weights and color flats.  Andrew, Bart, Caitlin, Bob, Amaya, Hedwig, Alex, Barb, Zak, Jim, Tom and all the homies at MCAD.
